Biodiversity Net Gain
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is an approach to development and land use change which, simply, aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably improved condition than before development and/or other land use change. While BNG is to be legally mandated for all developments by the end of January 2024 under the Environment Act 2021, many local authorities and projects have set policy requirements for measurable Biodiversity Net Gain.
Our Director is fully trained and experienced in the use of the Defra Biodiversity Metric 4.0 and all previous versions, and is able to assist in BNG requirements. This particularly includes:
- Baseline BNG survey and assessment;
- Calculation of Biodiversity Units (BUs); and
- Preparation of habitat creation and management plans.
